Tom Brownhill, Director of Tennis
Tom Brownhill played professionally for six years. He has directed junior, adult and academy programs at the world-renowned John Newcombe Tennis Ranch, and has trained many top pros including Lleyton Hewitt, Miriana Lucic and Tara Snyder.
Steve DeSilva, Assistant Director of Tennis
PJ Hendrie, Tennis Professional
Trained at the John Newcombe Tennis Academy as a junior. Played 4 years of high school tennis at New Braunfels High School. Was a state finalist twice. Awarded San Antonio Express News Texas Male Athlete of the Year as a senior in high school. Also awarded Texas Tennis Coaches Association male athlete of the year as a senior. Awarded the fitness and most professional attitude awards at the John Newcombe Tennis Academy as a senior. In college – played 4 years at Saint Louis University – Division I Atlantic 10 Conference. As a freshman – played #2 doubles and #3 singles. Was runner-up for A-10 conference rookie of the year. As a sophomore – played #2 doubles and #2 singles. Was awarded first-team all-conference. As a junior – played #3 doubles and #3 singles. As a senior – played #1 doubles and #5 singles. Finished career with individual wins against Arkansas, Xavier, Illinois State, Drake, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, St. Josephs, Florida State, etc. Also broke the SLU men’s tennis record for most career doubles wins. As a freshman, achieved a regional doubles ranking with his partner Felipe Acosta. As a junior, the team finally achieved a team national ranking and broke into the top 75.
Damien Gunn ‘Gunny’
Played and travelled around his home state of Queensland, Australia as a junior player. He recently completed his advanced professional tennis qualifications and is a recent welcomed addition to the Brickell Tennis Club.
