Joe Snailum, Director of Tennis
Joe Snailum, formerly of Houston, Texas brings 31+ years of experience to West Bay, teaching tennis to all ages and abilities. Joe has held key leadership roles as Director of Tennis for such prestigious tennis facilities as The Club at Carlton Woods, San Angelo Country Club, Rose Park Tennis Center and Southlake Tennis Center, as well as President of the USPTA Texas. Joe’s background on and off the court will bring a whole new level of talent and professionalism to the West Bay members. Some of Joe’s additional tennis career highlights include:
- 5A State Championship Team in Abilene Cooper 1976
- # 1 ranked player at Angelo State University
- Ranked # 1 in Texas in Men’s 25 singles in 1989
- Ranked #16 singles; #7 doubles in the Nation in 1990 for Men’s 30’s
- Member of USPTA National Team Champions in 1991
- 2007-2009 President of the USPTA-Texas
- One of the 4 original Head Coaches for USTA Area Training Centers in Texas
- Member of the USPTA and holds a professional - 1 rating
- 1991-1993 Coca-Cola/GTE Senior Shoothout featuring Jimmy Connors, Illie Nastase and others
Shane Lamely, Teaching Professional
Formerly of the F. Myers Racquet Club, Shane brings years of playing and coaching experience to the team at West Bay! Some of Shane’s career highlights include:
- Ranked #1 in high school - sectional singles and doubles champion
- Cotton Bowl champion in 1990
- Ranked #1 in men’s singles and top five (5) in the country while playing at Odessa Junior College
- Ranked # 1 in men’s singles and doubles when he played for Tulsa University
- Played on professional circuits USTA and ITF – highest ranking 890 in 1996
- Coached for the Houston Ladies Tennis Association
- Coached state & nationally ranked players at The Downtown Club at the Met (Houston, TX)
