The Downtown Racquets Center is a satellite facility of the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College. The facility features a newly renovated clubhouse that overlooks 14 lighted USTA-standard tennis courts, as well as 6 dedicated pickleball courts.
Programming includes tennis and pickleball offerings, as well as private lessons and ball machine rentals for both sports.
DIRECTOR OF PICKLEBALL
A native of Florida, Leanne arrived at Campbell in the fall of 1982 as a decorated student-athlete and went on to become one of the university’s all-time great performers in track and field. Leanne, who was named Most Valuable Player each of her four years on the team, was also a three-time All-American in the sport. In 1985, she finished second in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) heptathlon to earn All-America honors. She was inducted into Campbell University’s Sports Hall of Fame Oct. 2, 2004, in conjunction with Homecoming Weekend activities.
Following her graduation with a Bachelor of Arts in Literature, Communications-Sales and Marketing, Mann embarked on an outstanding cycling career. A 16-time North Carolina State cycling champion, she participated in the National Cycling Championships and ranked among the United States’ top eight cyclists from 1988-92. She also participated in the U.S. Olympic Cycling Trials, both in 1988 and 1992.
Leanne now has over 30 years of coaching and teaching experience. She was the Director of Darlington School’s Tennis and Golf Academies for a number of years as well as a member of the English Department faculty, and Director of Summer Programs for six years.
She joined Rome Downtown Racquets Center in October of 2020, and became manager of the downtown facility in April of 2021.
