MAUNA LANI, AUBERGE RESORTS COLLECTION INTRODUCES A NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH CLIFF DRYSDALE TENNIS

New Tennis Director Matt Dudley Unveils New Tennis Programming for Juniors to Adults

Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection, unveils the all new Tennis Garden in partnership with Cliff Drysdale Tennis, set to deliver one of the most iconic tennis programs in the State of Hawaii. Committed to promoting a tennis culture and providing unparalleled customer service and world-class tennis programming, the Tennis Garden at Mauna Lani welcomes guests of the resort and local residents looking for the ultimate tennis experience.

“The Island of Hawaii is home to a thriving sports and adventure scene and Mauna Lani is focused on providing a place to activate the body and enrich the soul.” said Sanjiv Hulugalle, Vice President and General Manager. “On behalf of our team, we are honored and delighted to deliver the Ultimate Tennis Experience in conjunction with the iconic Cliff Drysdale Tennis group.”

Newly appointed Director of Tennis Matt Dudley has put together an amazing assortment of exciting programming, bringing a new level of play to Hawaii’s Kohala Coast. Originally from Sydney, Australia, Dudley most recently served as the Adult Program Director at Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, CA. After a successful junior career, Dudley competed on the ITF Pro Circuit before working at the prestigious Sanchez-Casal Academy in Spain.

“I’m thrilled to make Mauna Lani a tennis destination for everyone,” said Dudley. “My goal is to bring more tennis to more people. My programs will welcome the community and offer programming for juniors through adults including lessons, leagues and offerings designed to get new people interested in tennis.”

“The newly reimagined Mauna Lani is such a storied and unique destination, and this partnership is very special to Cliff Drysdale personally” states Don Henderson, CEO of Cliff Drysdale Tennis. “This is our first program in Hawaii, and a tribute to the rich history of tennis that Mauna Lani is known for. Cliff has many fond memories of the resort when it served as a Davis Cup host site, and he’s looking forward to continuing the legacy by providing a new generation of players with beautiful tennis memories.”

In addition to six championship hardcourts all lighted for nightplay, the new tennis program includes pickleball and 60-minute cardio tennis, set to upbeat music and providing an incredible workout, USTA weekday leagues for match play, demo product mixers, BBQs and events for locals and guests, all designed to create a social hub at the Tennis Garden. A cafe and eatery are planned for 2021, but the space will carry grab-and-go items like fresh juice and power bars for a quick refuel.

The retail shop inside the Sports Club offers tennis apparel for men and women, as well as tennis footwear, racquets, re-stringing and re-gripping services, and designer accessories to bring your game to the next level. The team will also offer trial and loaner rackets for beginners or guests who might not have packed theirs.

“Getting outside, enjoying fresh air and having fun is what people want more than ever right now,” said Dudley. “By nature, our programs are tailored for safety and healthy living. We are excited to share what truly makes tennis so special.”

Located north of the Kona International Airport, Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collections, features 334 rooms and suites, oceanfront signature restaurant CanoeHouse, Kainalu sports, 45 holes of award winning golf managed by Troon as well as numerous amenities and outdoor experiences available for guests.
