A part of Drysdale's national signature event series, The CopperWynd Pro Challenge is a $50,000 USTA Women's Pro Circuit event and will be held October 30th - November 6th at the beautiful CopperWynd Resort & Club in Fountain Hills, Arizona.
What is the USTA Pro Circuit?
The USTA Pro Circuit is the pathway to the US Open and tour-level competition for aspiring tennis players and a frequent battleground for established professionals. The USTA launched it’s Pro Circuit 33 years ago to provide players the opportunity to gain professional ranking points, and it has since grown to become the largest developmental tennis circuit in the world, offering nearly $3 million in prize money. Last year, more than 1,000 men and women from more than 70 countries competed in cities nationwide. Maria Sharapova, Andy Roddick, Caroline Wozniacki, James Blake, Li Na, Andy Murray and Mardy Fish are among today’s top stars who began their careers on the USTA Pro Circuit.
The CopperWynd Women's Pro Challenge is also one of 3 women's tournaments that are part of the USTA's Australian Open Wild Card Challenge. In the Wild Card Challenge, the American man and American woman who earn the most ATP World Tour and WTA ranking points at two of three select USTA Pro Circuit hard-court events this fall will earn main-draw wild cards into the 2016 Australian Open.
CopperWynd's 2015 singles winner Samantha Crawford went on to earn the Wild Card and fell in the first round of the 2016 Australian Open to Danka Kovinic.

Following the tournament, CopperWynd Resort & Club will be the first Cliff Drysdale Tennis-managed location to host an ACEing Autism program for the youth of the greater Phoenix-Scottdale and Fountain Hills communities.
